Muncie Preschool, part of Muncie Community Schools, believes young children learn best by doing, including playing, exploring their interests, and problem solving, and strives to provide a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment, with diverse programming focused on each child's social-emotional well-being and physical health and growth alongside core academic instruction.
The program serves 3- and 4-year-olds, with priority given to 4-year-olds, at five elementary school locations from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and is rated a Paths to Quality Level 3, working toward Level 4, the highest rating. Tuition is $50 per week, though many families qualify for On My Way Pre-K funds or CCDF vouchers to offset the cost, and all enrolled students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
